Bridge to Life, Ltd. is a development-stage biotechnology company formed to advance the science of organ procurement and preservation, and to research, develop, and commercialize medical technologies.
Our focus and resources are devoted to enhancing the established benchmark for organ transplant solutions: the UW solutions sold under the Belzer UW® trademark. Our initial research seeks to combine the cellular fuel ATP with our storage solution to greatly increase the longevity of preservation times—and use of—donated organs. (See our Technical Discussion.)
Bridge to Life is the exclusive licensee of the Belzer UW® trademark from the Wisconsin Alumni Research Foundation (WARF) and a key assumption of the Bridge to Life business plan is to build and develop the expertise that exists at UW Madison as the pioneer in the organ transplant field.
Bridge to Life has licensed a unique fusogenic liposomal formulation of ATP (FL-ATP) to achieve the difficult goal of delivering bio-active ATP through the cell wall. This technology (see delete) has additional potential medical applications including angioplasty, stent procedures, coronary artery bypass grafting, other post-heart attack therapy, and tourniquet surgeries.
Finally, we are working with the transplant community and our manufacturing partner, Preservation Solution, Inc. (make link to Manufacturing Experience page), to make improvement in the Belzer UW® packaging configurations. The first of these improvements is the Belzer UW® Cold Storage Solution (UW Solution) new storage conditions. The new “no refrigeration required” storage temperature range minimizes concerns about storage space and with power outages that can exist with ViaSpan®, which requires continuous refrigeration.
